Abstract

Sverige är uppdelat i åtta zoner, zon I-VIII samt en fjällregion. Uppdelningen av zoner är baserad
på temperaturen i landet. Vår högsta zon, zon VIII, ligger högst upp i landet och har det hårdaste
klimatet. Syftet med detta arbete är att sammanställa information om vilka rosor som är härdiga i
zon VIII. Arbetet är kombination av en litteraturstudie och telefonintervjuer. En stor del av
resultatet har baserats på Poms, Programmet för odlad mångfald, rosupprop som går att läsa om i
boken Rosor i nationella genbanken. Från litteraturen har information om rosorna sammanställts.
Plantskolor och handelsträdgårdar har kontaktats för att undersöka vilka rosor som säljs till zon
VIII, detta för att ta reda på om det finns rosor som är härdiga till zonen men som inte finns på
marknaden. Från litteraturen hittades 28 rosor som är härdiga i zon VIII, ungefär en tredjedel av
dem tillhör Rugosa-Gruppen. Av de plantskolor och handelsträdgårdar som kontaktades säljs
sammanlagt 25 rossorter till zon VIII varav ungefär hälften tillhör Rugosa-Gruppen.
Resultatet visar att det finns en bredd av rosor som är härdiga i zon VIII. Det visar även att det
säljs ett stort utbud av rosor till zonen men att det finns god potential för utbudet att bli större om
fler existerande rosor tas in i handeln.

Sweden is divided in eight zones, zone I-VIII and a region in the mountains. The zones are divided
by temperature. Our highest zone, zone VIII, is located up north in the country and has the most
severe climate. The aim for this essay is to compile information on roses that are hardy in zone
VIII. The work is a combination of a literature study and interviews. A large part of the results is
based on Pom's rose petition, which is put together in the book Rosor i Nationella Genbanken.
Information about the roses has been compiled from the literature. Nurseries and garden centers
have been contacted to investigate which roses are sold to zone VIII, to find out if there are roses
that are hardy in the zone but are not for sale. From the literature, 28 roses were found hardy in
zone VIII, about a third of them belongs to the Rugosa-Group. Of the nurseries and garden centres
that were contacted, a total of 25 roses were sold to zone VIII, about half of them belong to the
Rugosa-Group.
The results show that there is a big variety of roses that are hardy in zone VIII. It also shows that a
large supply of roses is sold to the zone, but that the supply has potential to become larger if more
existing roses goes into the trade.
