Abstract

Sårvård är en vanlig arbetsuppgift för legitimerade djursjukskötare. Det är viktigt att ha kunskap om
sårläkningsfaserna för att upptäcka komplikationer under läkningstiden. Debridering är ett viktigt
steg vid behandling av sår och innebär upprensning av kontaminerad, infekterad eller nekrotisk
vävnad i syfte att skapa goda förutsättningar för läkningen under de olika faserna. Sårspolning är en
debrideringsmetod som ofta används initialt i behandlingen. Autolytisk debridering är den
kroppsegna processen som rensar såret från bakterier och nekrotisk vävnad vilket kan understödjas
av förband och lokalt applicerbara sårvårdsprodukter, kunskap kring dessa är därmed viktigt.

För att skapa en övergripande bild inom ämnesområdet gjordes en litteraturgenomgång över vilka
sårrengöringsmetoder, förband och lokalt applicerbara sårvårdsprodukter som enligt litteraturen
förekommer inom djursjukvården vid öppen sårläkning hos hund. En enkätundersökning utfördes
därefter för att få kunskap om sårrengöringsmetoder och sårvårdsprodukter som används på
smådjurskliniker och djursjukhus i Sverige. Utifrån resultatet av litteraturgenomgången och
enkätundersökningen genomfördes en litteraturstudie med avsikt att hitta vetenskaplig evidens för
sårrengöringsmetoder, förband och lokalt applicerbara sårvårdsprodukter. Litteraturresultatet
indikerar att fler experimentella studier inom området är önskvärt för att kunna säkerställa vilka
sårrengöringsmetoder och sårvårdprodukter som är verksamma vid sårläkning Det är också viktigt
att sårvården anpassas individuellt utifrån patientens förutsättningar och sårets allvarlighetsgrad.
Enkätresultatet indikerar att området är komplext och en generalisering av sårvård kan vara svår.

Wound management is a common task for veterinary nurses. Knowledge of the stages of healing is
important in order to discover potential complications during the healing process. Debridement is
an important step in the treatment of wounds and is used to remove contaminated, infected or
necrotic tissue to create good prerequisites for the healing during the stages of healing. Wound
irrigation is a debridement method that is usually used initially in the wound management. Autolytic
debridement is the body’s own process to clear the wound from bacteria and necrotic tissue which
can be supported with dressings and wound products, knowledge of those are therefore important

In order to create a general idea of wound management a literature search was done to identify which
wound cleaning methods, dressings and wound products are commonly used for second intention
healing in dogs. A survey was thereafter conducted to gain knowledge of which wound cleaning
methods and wound care products that are used in small animal clinics and animal hospitals in
Sweden. Based on the results of the literature search and the survey a literature study was conducted
with the intention to find scientific evidence for wound cleaning methods, dressings and wound
products. The results from the literature study indicates that more experimental studies is needed to
establish which products and methods are effective in wound management. It is also important that
wound management is adapted to meet the needs of each individual patient and the severity of the
wound. The resultsfrom the survey indicates that the field is complex and a generalization of wound
management can be difficult.
