Abstract

Ett väl utformat stall är grunden för en framgångsrik mjölkproduktion. I AMS-stall är det viktigt att ha lösningar för separation av djur för olika åtgärder som seminering och sjukdomsbehandling som medger en snabb och säker djurhantering. Det finns många olika sätt för hur planlösningen är utformad i stall med AMS. Dock är det ett problem att många stall har en planlösning som ger en sämre funktion. Ofta handlar det om att det inte finns tillräckligt många möjligheter för att kunna dela in korna i de grupper som behövs. De viktigaste områdena i lösdriftsstallet är område för avskiljning, sjukboxar och kalvningsboxar. Dessa ska med tanke på övervakningen och det dagliga arbetet planeras på ett sådant sätt att nåbarheten och hygienen är optimal. Platsbrist för kor som behöver hanteras på något sätt är en annan sak som kan vara problematisk ute på gårdar. Platsbrist är problematiskt både ur smittryck -, djurhälsa - och arbetsmiljösynpunkt. Ofta handlar det om att det blir för dyrt att bygga så pass stort att det finns tillräckligt med platser till kor med särskilda behov av tillsyn. Den här uppsatsen har fokuserat på hur olika planlösningar i AMS-stall ser ut för att kunna hantera djur som behöver skiljas av för extra tillsyn och behandling samt om det finns tillräckligt med platser för att kunna göra detta. En fråga som tas upp i arbetet är om planlösningarna möjliggör för en enkel hantering av djuren?

Studien är kvalitativ i form av analys av 21 planritningar för AMS-stall och en intervjustudie av 7 lantbrukare som har AMS. Resultatet från analysen av planritningarna och intervjustudien visade bland annat att det skiljer mycket mellan gårdar hur planlösningar för hantering av djur som behöver hanteras ser ut. Det är även tydligt att många av de mindre gårdarna har bättre hanteringsmöjligheter med fler platser än vad de stora besättningarna har. En av slutsatserna i studien är att det finns stall som har bra planlösningar för att kunna ta hand om djuren på ett bra sätt men samtidigt är det också många planlösningar som inte möjliggör för att kunna dela in korna i tillräckligt många grupper vilket är viktigt att kunna göra. Att kunna hantera djur som behöver hanteras för behandling eller att ha möjligheten att ha djur i flera olika grupper är viktigt både ur en arbetsmiljö- och djurhälsosynpunkt men resultatet har visat att ju större gårdar desto sämre möjligheter för att kunna hantera djuren på ett effektivt sätt finns det. Större besättningar ställer högre krav på planlösningen och det är viktigt att det är lätt att göra rätt. Är det inte lätt att utföra arbetet så blir det inte gjort.

A well-designed dairy barn is a basis for successful milk production. In barns with AMS, it is vital to have solutions for the separation of animals for various measures such as breeding and disease treatment, which allows a quick and safe animal handling. There are many different ways in which the layout is designed in barns with AMS. However, it is a problem that many barns have a functional design that does not allow maximal efficiency and function (both from management and animal- perspectives). Often it is a matter of not having enough opportunities to be able to divide the cows into the groups that are needed. The most important areas in the loose housing are an area for separation, boxes for sick cows and calving boxes. These should be planned in such a way that the reachability and hygiene are optimal in terms of the monitoring of animals and daily work around it. Lack of space for cows that need to be handled in some way is another thing that can be problematic on farms. Lack of space is problematic for the infectious pressure, animal health/welfare as well as the work environment. It is often related to the fact that it is too expensive to dimension dairy barns, so there are enough places for cows with special needs for supervision. This paper has focused on how different design solutions in barns with AMS have solved the problem with handle animals that need to be separated for extra supervision and treatment, and if there are enough places to do this. Discussed in the work is whether the dairy barn design allows the easy handling of the animals?

The study is qualitative in the form of analysis of plans for barns with AMS and an interview study of 7 farmers with AMS. The result of the analysis of the plans and the interview study showed, among other things, that there is a great difference between farms in the layouts for grouping animals. It is also clear that many of the smaller farms have better management opportunities with more places than the large dairy herds have. One of the conclusions of the study is that there are dairy barns that have good layouts providing the opportunity to take care of the animals in the right way. However, there are also many layouts that do not enable the cows to be divided into enough groups, which is essentially crucial for effective farm management. Being able to handle animals that need to be dealt with for treatment or having the opportunity to have animals in several different groups is essential both from a work environment and animal health point of view. The results have shown that the larger the farms are, the worse are the chances of being able to handle the animals in an effective way.
