Abstract

Lunden kan både ses som en vegetationstyp och som en företeelse. Men lunden är svår att få grepp om, hur ser den egentligen ut? Är det en naturlig landskapstyp? Vad är/har varit dess funktion? Varför är lunden ofta sammankopplad till människan som en kultplats. Detta är frågor som detta arbete har försökt att svara på under resans gång.

Huvudfrågan som undersöktes i arbetet är huruvida lunden som vegetationstyp kan vara tillämpbar och intressant för villaträdgården. Eftersom lunden har haft och i viss utsträckning fortfarande har en nära koppling till människan kändes det relevant att försöka veta mer om lunden ur ett kulturhistoriskt sammanhang. Vår historia är ett viktigt verktyg för att förstå vår nutid och kunna bygga vidare på i framtiden.

Arbetet har fokuserat på att dels beskriva lunden som en mytomspunnen plats, men även försökt bena ut hur denna vegetationstyp ser ut och vad som utgör dess viktigaste element. Arbetet innehåller även en fallstudie med olika lundlika miljöer som har koppling till en kulturhistorisk kontext. Med hjälp av lärdomar från både litteratur- och fallstudien har sedan 4 olika koncept skapats för en villatomt. I arbetet med utformningen av dessa koncept har den danska landskaparkitekten C. Th. Sørensen fått agera som inspiratör i metoden för själva angreppsättet av hur själva implementeringen av lundmiljön skulle kunna gå till.

The grove can be seen both as a type of vegetation and as a phenomenon. But the grove is hard to grasp, how does it really look? Is it a natural landscape type? What is / has been its function? Why is the grove often connected to man as a cult scene? These are questions that this work has attempted to answer.

The main question that was investigated in the work is whether the grove as a vegetation type can be applicable and interesting for the private garden. Since the grove has had, and to a certain extent, still has a close connection with man, it felt relevant to deepen the understanding about the grove from a cultural-historical context. Our history is an important tool for understanding our present and being able to build our future on.

The work has focused on partly describing the grove as a mythical place, but also tried to point out how this type of vegetation looks and what constitutes its most important element. The work also includes a case study with various grove environments that are linked to a cultural-historical context. With the help of lessons from both the literature and a case study, 4 different concepts have been created for a living space. In the work on designing these concepts, the thinking and work of the Danish landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen was used as a methodological inspiration.
