Abstract

Lantbruksbranschen är präglad av en instabil lönsamhet som varierar stort mellan olika år. Som ett instrument för att planera sitt resultat brukar resultatbudget anges, men resultatbudgetar är också föremål för negativ kritik. Olika företagares inställning till ekonomiska styrinstrument anges, av litteraturen, bero på vad man har för utbildning, kunskap, erfarenhet, hur gammal man är samt företagets struktur och utvecklingsstadium.
Studier kring affärsplanering antyder att man i början är mer positivt inställd till planeringen än vad man är senare. Samma förhållande skulle kunna gälla även för resultatbudgetering. Studiens syfte är därför att jämföra hur inställningen till budgetering skiljer sig mellan studenter, nyetablerade lantbruksföretagare och erfarna lantbruksföretagare. Studien ska därmed kunna ge en antydan om hur inställningen påverkas av utbildning, erfarenhet och institutionella faktorer.
Fem individer från respektive grupp intervjuades genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Till hjälp för att mäta deras attityd/inställning användes en Likert-skala med 16 påståenden. Intervjuerna skedde via telefon.
Resultaten indikerar att inställningen till budgetering skiljer sig mellan grupperna. Studenterna tycks vara mest positiva, följt av de nyetablerade företagarna, medan de erfarna företagarna var övervägande negativa. Skillnaderna tycks bero på erfarenhet och intresse. Utbildningsinstitutioner tycks spela en roll, medan rådgivning och bank inte verkar göra det.
Vidare forskning behövs för att kvantifiera förhållandena och fallstudier på individnivå skulle kunna visa hur mycket inställningen förändras över tid.

Agricultural businesses are affected by volatile profitability. The profitability is varying a lot between different years. To foresee the outcome of the business, budget is a recommended management tool, but the budget is also negatively criticized. Different entrepreneurs’ attitudes for management tools is proposed, by the literature, to depend on the level of education, the knowledge, the experience, the age of the entrepreneur, the structure of the company, as well as the stage of development.
Research of business planning has showed that in the early stage the entrepreneurs are more positive to the planning, than later on. Maybe the same thing could also be validated in the context of budgeting. The purpose of the study is to compare the attitude of budgeting between students, recently established farmers and experienced farmers. The study shall make a suggestion of how the attitude is affected by academic instances, work experience and other institutional factors.
Five people from each category were interviewed by using the technique of semi-structural interviews. To measure their attitude a Likert scale with 16 statements was used. The interviews were made by phone.
The results indicate that the attitude of budgeting is different between the groups of respondents. The students seem to be the most positive group, followed by the recently established entrepreneurs, while the experienced entrepreneurs were predominantly negative. The differences seems to depend on experience and personal interests. Education institutions seems to influence the respondents, while consultants and banks do not.
Further research is necessary, to quantify the relationship between experience, age and interest versus attitude. Case studies at individual level could show how the attitude changes by time.
