Abstract

Ett svängande konventionellt mjölkpris de senaste åren har gjort att många mjölkbönder söker lösningar för att få en bättre ekonomi i sin produktion. Den ekologiska mjölkproduktionen har varit stabilare sett över tid om man jämför mot den konventionella, därför tror vi att många ställt om sin produktion till ekologisk på grund av detta. Regeringen har som mål att år 2030 så skall 30% av Sveriges jordbruksareal vara ekologiskt certifierad. Detta bör betyda att regeringen är villiga att satsa även på ekologisk mjölk i framtiden. Syftet med vårt arbete är att kontrollera om det är lönsamt att ställa om till ekologisk mjölkproduktion men även efterforska hur omställningen går till och vilka skillnader som finns i produktionen. Vi har räknat på en omställning på en specifik gård. Vi har också intervjuat tre stycken mjölkbönder som nyligen ställt om deras mjölkproduktion till ekologisk produktion för att höra deras erfarenheter kring omställningen och produktionen. Vi har kommit fram till är att det finns en högre lönsamhet i ekologisk produktion under rådande förutsättningar på fallgården. De viktigaste parametrarna som påverkar detta är mjölkpris och levererad mjölk. Sjunker någon av dessa parametrar ändras kalkylerna drastiskt. Det är också ett lägre TB3 på den ekologisk produktion än den konventionella, men detta kompenseras i och med de extra ekologiska stöden. Brytpunkten i TB3 ligger enligt våra beräkningar på 1494 kr/ko och år inklusive stöd på den ekologiska produktionen. De viktigaste faktorerna att tänka på vid en övergång till ekologiskt mjölkproduktion är at det finns tillräckligt med betesareal samt att det inte krävs för stora ombyggnationer av befintliga stallar. Lantbrukarna vi intervjuat framhåller även att vara motiverad till omställningen som en viktig faktor.

A fluctuation in milk price in the former years has led to that many farmers who produce milk seeks solutions to be more profitable. The organic milk price has not been varying so much as the conventional milk price, we think this is one of the main reasons why many milk producers change to organic production instead of conventional. The aim for the Swedish government by year 2030 is that 30% of the agricultural land area should be organic certified. Likely, they want to invest more in organic milk production in the future. In our work the aim is to check whether it is profitable to change over to organic milk production, what differences there is and also to investigate how the transition works, if there are any difficulties. We have done the calculations on a specific farm. To learn more about the transition from conventional to organic milk production we asked a series of questions to three farmers who recently changed to organic milk production. In this case our conclusion is that it is profitable to change over to organic milk production on the specific farm. The most important parameters for success in this area is the milk price and milk yield, if any of those drop a little bit, big difference can be found in the result. If it were not for the support money from the government, it would not be profitable to change. The breakpoint in this case when it´s not profitable anymore is when the price are under 1494 SEK /cow and year included the support for organic production. Without the support it’s not profitable at all. The most important factors to consider when converting to organic milk production is that there is sufficient pasture area and not to big reconstruction of existing buildings is required. The farmers we interviewed also emphasize that being motivated is as an important factor.
