Abstract

Det brukar sägas att en bild säger mer än tusen ord. Säger två bilder då dubbelt så mycket? Vi lever i urbaniseringens guldålder, aldrig har fler människor bott i våra städer och utvecklingen visar få tecken på att avstanna. Behovet av bostäder, servicefunktioner och infrastruktur ökar i takt med att staden växer och inte sällan tenderar mark utanför stadsgränsen att bli föremål för intresse vid nybyggnation. Staden präglas av inneboende värde- och intressekonflikter, i det här fallet en fråga om bevarande eller expansion. Följande studie är ett försök till att belysa problematiken med stadens expansion utifrån ett deltagarperspektiv och bidra med ett inlägg i diskussionen kring den fysiska miljöns utbredning i relation till land och stad. Detta genom att uppmärksamma Malmö stads urbaniseringsprocess och utbredning av den byggda miljön i det stadsnära landskapet med hjälp av metoden återfotografering. Föränderlighet är ett ständigt närvarande element och planerare är i behov av metoder genom vilka vi kan synliggöra och diskutera dessa förändringsprocesser. Inte bara för att kunna fatta underbyggda beslut inför framtiden utan även kunna föra en dialog om den miljö som dagligen omger oss.

It is usually said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Are two pictures
worth twice as much? We are living in the golden age of urbanization,
never have more people lived in our cities and the development shows few
signs of slowing down. The need for housing, service functions and
infrastructure increases as the city grows and land outside the city limits
tend to become the interest for new construction. The city is often
characterized by conflicts of interests and values, in this case a matter of
preservation or expansion. The following study is an attempt to highlight
the problems with the city’s expansion from a participants perspective and
to contribute to the discussion about the propagation of the urban
environment in relation to the surrounding landscape. The study takes aim
at the process of urbanization in Malmö stad and the expansion of the
built environment by using the method of rephotography. Change is an
ever-present element and planners are in need of methods through which
we can visualize and discuss this process. Not only to be able to make
informed decisions for the future but also to conduct a dialogue about the
environment that surrounds us on a daily basis.
