Abstract

Apples are a popular fruit in Sweden. The production is however low in comparison to the
consumption. With a warmer climate in Sweden in the near future it is probable that there will be an
increase in the number of apple orchards. With such a potential there are good reasons to
investigate the nutritional flow which affects both the environment and the economy of the orchard.
In this study, the nutritional flow of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium was investigated for four
apple orchards in southern Sweden in order to create a nutritional balance and see if there are any
risks of nutritional leakage. A survey was also conducted to see whether there are any great
differences in aspects regarding the nutritional flow among Swedish apple orchards. No conclusions
could be drawn from the nutritional balance as the results were unclear and were based on
insufficient information. The result from the survey suggests that there are several aspects that differ
among Swedish apple orchards. The participation in the survey was however low and the results
from this study are therefore also unreliable.

Äpplen är en populär frukt i Sverige. Produktionen är dock låg i jämförelse med
konsumtionen. Då Sverige kommer få ett allt varmare klimat är det troligt att antalet
äppelodlingar kommer att öka. Med potential för en framtida utökning av odlingen finns det
goda anledningar att undersöka hur dess näringsflöde ser ut vilket påverkar miljön och
odlarens ekonomi. I den här studien undersöktes växtnäringsflödet för kväve, fosfor, och
kalium på fyra äppelodlingar i södra Sverige för att skapa växtnäringsbalanser och se om det
finns risk för näringsläckage. Det utfördes även en enkätundersökning för att ta reda på om
det finns skillnader i frågor relaterade till näringsflödet bland äppelodlingarna och i sådana
fall hur stora de är. För växtnäringsbalansen kunde inga slutsatser dras då resultaten var
otydliga och byggde på otillräcklig information. Enkätundersökningen tydde på att det finns
flertalet skillnader inom svensk äppelodling. Men då det fanns ett högt externt bortfall var
resultaten även för den undersökningen otillräcklig.
