Abstract

Detta kandidatexamensarbete behandlar hållbarhetsteorin cradle to cradle inom
i Ronneby kommun.
Braungarts två böcker i ämnet: Cradle to cradle - Remaking the way we make things (2009)
och The Upcycle - Beyond Sustainabillity (2013).

This bachelor essay discuss the use of the sustainability theory cradle to cradle, in landscape architecture and urban planning. The work aims to investigate how
landscape architects can use cradle to cradle-principles in their design.
Cradle to cradle distinguishes itself among other sustainability theories by promoting a positive change in the environment instead of completely removing the
human impact on the Earth. The theory was created by the American architect William McDonough and German chemist Michael Braungart.
Our work has included fact collection about cradle to cradle then summarized so that both authors have had similar skills and access to the same references. In this
way, we both have been able to take part of, and developed the all the parts in this essay.
The essay begins with a summary of the facts of cradle to cradle, where concrete examples of cradle to cradle-inspired places are described, such as Park 20 20 &
CEFUR's work in Ronneby Municipality. This part is mainly based on the founders McDonough and Braungarts two books on the subject: Cradle to Cradle - Remaking the way we make things (2009) and The Upcycle - Beyond Sustainabillity (2013).
The essay continues with a results section where concrete criterias, which a landscape architect should keep in mind when designing sites, are described. These criteria focus on the choice, and use of plant materials, products, renewable energy and water, as we belive that these are important aspects of landscape architecture.
